Renovating an old building

If you are lucky enough to get your hands on an old building, and are looking to develop it into a lovely place to call home, there are a few things you need to know.

Planning permission:

If there are structural alterations that need to be done, or that you are looking to add as some kind of extension, you will need to get an architect to draw out your plans accurately. Once your plans are drawn out, you will need to submit this to gain planning permission from your local council. Give yourself plenty of time for this process as it can be a bit lengthy.

Plumbing and electric:

When it comes to old building, the plumbing and electric may not meet the standards that are required for homes in recent years. Getting your homes electric and plumbing re-done from scratch is something you may have to consider with a renovation project.
